Carlos Cotta, one of the principal investigators of the Bio4Res project, has been the recipient of the 2nd Best Paper Award at MAEB 2024, for his work «Un Algoritmo Memético para la Optimización de la Evacuación de Interiores» presented at the MAEB 2024 conference, held within the framework of CAEPIA 2024. This work addressed the use of a memetic algorithm stemming from the combination of an evolutionary algorithm and Hooke-Jeeves algorithm to optimize a simulation-driven evacuation problem. The award was bestowed during the closing ceremony of the conference and is testimony to the practical relevance of the work carried out in the project.
